He is considered to be one of the strongest amongst princes of hell being second only to lucifer, strong enough to successfully hold a rebillion against him. He forms an unholy trinity with lucifer and asteroth.
Most of the possession movies these days show flies and insects in the room of someone about to get possessed, now you know where that is coming from.
He's often associated with pride, gluttony, disease, unholy desire and demonic possessions.
